In 1958, K2UTS was using a very common receiver and transmitter combination that was enjoyed by many new amateurs who entered the hobby back in the mid to late fifties.

In our photo, the popular Heath DX 40 transmitter is seen on the left, along with the National NC 98 receiver on the right.  The Heath matching VFO is next to the DX 40, along with the Heath Q-multiplier positioned on top of the NC 98.

In the upper left hand corner of the photo, the Heath SWR/reflected power meter was used to determine if the antenna was tuned properly.  The matching speaker for the NC 98 was placed on a shelf under the operating desk.  A great ham shack for the new or seasoned amateur radio operator back in those days.
