The Buffalo Kilowatt Bookends survived an early winter snow storm that left over two feet of very heavy wet snow in Bookend Country.  The storm which started on Columbus Day,  took down trees and power lines, resulting in more than 450,000 households left without electricity or heat for over a week.  As of this writing, some households still have not had their power restored.

Surprise storm dumps heavy wet snow in Bookend Country

Both Buffalo Kilowatt Bookends did not have power for four days, and the Southern half, W2KBW, lost all of his antennas in the storm.  The antenna system of the Northern half, K2VXV,  made it through the storm with just minor damage.  With a 15 kilowatt natural gas standby generator at his location, K2VXV was able to maintain normal operations during the storm.  As of yesterday, W2KBW  had erected his antenna and was back on the air.
